Marta Benet is a Spanish-born designer and architect who now lives and works in Italy. After graduating from the Universitat Politècnica de València and specializing in Fashion Design in the same city, in 2015 she moved to Milan where she studied the art of ceramics.
From this multidisciplinary training she started a personal project exploring the boundaries between art and design; a project aiming to enhance craftsmanship techniques and to apply natural materials to contemporary design. Marta designs and manufactures entirely by hand her pieces, made of ceramic and fabric, in limited editions or one-of-a-kind pieces.
A short description of your collection.
Handcrafted household items made of natural materials such as clay or silk fabric.
W hat inspires you?
My pieces are inspired by the "spontaneous objects" of the artisan tradition, in particular the Spanish one; objects that are part of my tactile and visual imaginary and that I reinterpret following a contemporary vision. Not only is craftsmanship inspires me, it also allows me to give shape to ideas, to work with my hands and turn materials into new objects.
