Designer and craftsman, Giovanni Cugliari collects the inheritance of the family, a wood craft company since 1961. He applies the quality and the techniques experienced as cabinetmaker's work into contemporary furnishings, with essential and elegant lines.
In the middle between family tradition and innovation there's the "push to the internationalization, written in the DNA".
Giovanni Cugliari thus summarizes his story, a story undertaken by his father Domenico, in 1961, when after years of experience in Roman furniture field, he decided to return to Maierato, in the province of Vibo Valentia, and open a carpentry that still bears his name.
In 1988 Giovanni and his brother Antonino join the company and start investing in technology and transforming the carpentry into a real creative hub.
With an eye always linked to the land of origin, the company today is the leader of an informal network of wood, which gather local artisans that deal with furniture and design. "What interests us is to put technology, materials and craftmanship in touch: design world needs the great Italian manufacturing know-how." This is what Domenico Cugliari declares, even he does not hide the difficulties related to operating in a context such as that of Vibo Valentia.
"The South is far from everything, from infrastructure, from markets, but we have turned our difficulty into virtue, investing, since time, in internationalization. We have furnished villas in the United States, in Canada, in Montecarlo. We have internationalization in the DNA ".
People who consider their job as a life's vocation, hands that work to create something unique and ingenuity that never ceases to look to the future and innovation.
Domenico Cugliari expresses all this and, on Debou, we present its new collection of design furniture.
